The Austrian cryptocurrency exchange has obtained PSAN registration.
The exchange is the first foreign structure to obtain the sesame from the AMF
Bitpanda, a cryptocurrency exchange based in Vienna, Austria, is now registered with the AMF as a Service Provider on Digital Assets (PSAN) for the custody of digital assets and the purchase / sale of digital assets .
The exchange becomes the fifth structure after Wealth Matrix and StackinSat to obtain registration as a Digital Asset Service Provider (PSAN).
Bitpanda is even the first foreign company to obtain the precious sesame to operate in France.
What is the PSAN status
The law of May 22, 2019, known as the Pacte law, created a regulatory framework for PSANs establishing in France the status of digital asset service provider, covering a large number of activities. This regime provides for compulsory registration with the AMF for certain players and optional authorization. Only approved PSANs can engage in canvassing, for example.
Registration with the AMF is mandatory for two types of service: the purchase / sale of cryptocurrency against fiat currency that is legal tender (for example, exchanging BTC for euros) and the custody of cryptocurrency for the account. third parties (retention of clients‘ private keys and ability to use them on their behalf). Service providers who started their activity before the entry into force of the law had until December 18, 2020 to complete the procedures.
The AMF has so far issued a registration to 5 PSANs in France. About twenty registration files are said to be under investigation.
